The traditional approach is focused on hardware, with relatively less emphasis on software components, trade-offs, and software and system integration. But, advanced, global companies require more.
Global companies are focusing on core competencies and critical skills. They outsource the tasks that require less critical skills.
To succeed with this strategy, they require strong emphasis on architecture and design, management of outsourcing and global relationships, and large-scale integration.
Today's systems are more complex, increasingly software-intensive, and network centric. This requires a focus on design, development, and integration, both for Information Technology and for Embedded Systems.
